The National PIA Board formed a task force with the sole purpose to research the formation of a PIA-owned captive agents E&O program. The feasibility study was completed in April of 2009 and since then, this Task Force along with PIA staff has been working hard on all the important due diligence in researching and developing the PIAPRO Program. PIA engaged independent counsel and one of the best Captive Experts in the industry to review all aspects of the program. The accumulation of efforts over the past two years has resulted in a comprehensive and flexible program underwritten by the A.M. Best "A" rated Argonaut Midwest Insurance Company.

The goal the National Association of Professional Insurance Agents and the PIA Captive Taskforce Members set out to accomplish in April 2009 has finally come to fruition as PIA Professional Liability Insurance Company, A Risk Retention Group (PIAPRO) received its Montana Certificate of Authority for Captive Insurance in August 2011. As a result, PIA is now available to accept applications for E&O coverage. Though the formation journey took much longer than anyone anticipated, the future for PIA, PIAPRO and its membership has now become much brighter and exciting. This PIA agent owned and operated program will serve its members well into the future.
